UMR Health & Wellness customers win Healthiest Companies in America awards
With UMR’s help, several of our customers recently received 2007 Healthiest Companies in America awards from Interactive Health Solutions, Inc. (IHS). The winning UMR employer groups have UMR’s Health & Wellness program, an optional population health management program integrated into a customer’s health benefit plan.

Assessments showed significant health improvements
The Healthiest Companies in America awards are given to employer groups for their employees’ excellent and/or significantly improved health status. The awards are based on the clinical evaluations of employees in key health metrics known as the Interactive Health Index (IHI), an IHS proprietary metric developed in conjunction with physicians and other health care professionals. IHI tests for indicators of heart disease, diabetes, smoking and other measures of health status and risk factors at least in part controllable by the individual.

Participants learn their individual IHI scores after completing Clinical Health Risk Assessments (CHRAs) performed by IHS as part of their plan’s Health & Wellness program. The winning organizations measurably reduced their overall IHI score as determined by their score from the previous two years.

More than 1,000 IHS-served companies were included in the competition and over forty organizations were recognized in specific award categories.

We are proud that our health and wellness program has helped these and other customers significantly improve their members’ health,” said Jay Anliker, UMR president. “The Healthiest Companies award results remind us again that we can make a difference in the quality of health care and the quality of life for our customers and their plan participants.”
